| Augusta - Golf Augusta. The name alone brings visions of exquisite golf greens, stunning landscapes, and recalls the most recognized names in golf in the world. Golf is the world in this habitat for swinging the clubs on lavish green fairways. Augusta takes great pride in hosting each spring the Masters golf tournament, the sport's most prestigious event. Named in honor of the Princess of Wales (Augusta), the city was founded in 1736 and is the second oldest and largest city in Georgia. The Bobby Jones designed golf course has inspired golfers and spectators with its brilliant foliage and the lush lawns. Since 1934, thousands of pros, visitors and locals surround this beautiful event to admire the rolling terrain, brightly colored azaleas, yellow jasmine, and flowering peach. 
The Masters tournament admission is exclusive to those who hold a series badge. Practice round tickets are limited and sold in advance by application only. Non-member course visitation and souvenir shopping at the pro shop is only available during the tournament and only with a series badge or practice round ticket. Main Events/Music/Art Augusta's wide array of cultural organizations and activities reflects the area's rich history and appreciation for the arts. Multiple theatre companies and various other arts organizations provide educational and entertainment opportunities for both children and adults. The Augusta community supports its own ballet, symphony, opera company and museums. The Augusta Symphony is Ranked #1 in the state, by the GA Arts Council. Augusta is Georgia’s second oldest city and was established in 1736 as a colonial trading post. Augusta’s history includes roles in the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Growth and development in Augusta saw important contributions to American development throughout the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Built in the decades following the Civil War, the King and Sibley textile mills still function today. The Confederate Powderworks Monument is in front of Sibley Mill on Goodrich Street, and several Civil War sites are within the community. The Augusta Museum of History was established in 1937 and today displays the preservation and sharing of the material history of Augusta and the region. From a 10,000 year-old projectile point, to a 1914 locomotive, the collections chronicle a rich and fascinating past.
